Welcome to Dundee!

Dundee is promoted as 'One City, Many Discoveries' in honour of Dundee's history of scientific activities and of the RRS Discovery, Robert Falcon Scott's Antarctic exploration vessel, which was built in Dundee and is now berthed in the city harbour.

Dundee has two universities—the University of Dundee and the University of Abertay Dundee.

A £1 billion master plan to regenerate and to reconnect the Waterfront to the city centre which started in 2001 is expected to be completed within a 30-year period, with the Dundee Victoria & Albert Museum being built on a plot vacated by the demolished leisure baths with its grounds extending up to the R.R.S. Discovery.

Opened September 15 2018, V&A Museum of Design Dundee is the first ever dedicated design museum in Scotland and the only other V&A museum anywhere in the world outside London.

V&A at Dundee is an international centre of design for Scotland, housed in a remarkable building by the Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and situated at the heart of Dundee's developing waterfront.

Dundee is also known for the Dandy, the Beano, Desperate Dan, Oor Wullie, and was said to be built on the 'three Js': Jam, jute, and journalism.
