Melville House is a 300 year old Neo Palladian country house with a rich historical background. Melville Escapes is situated in the grounds of Melville Estate.
The Main house was built in 1697 by the famous architect James Smith for the first earl of Melville. Situated in the quiet hamlet of Monimail and set in 16 acres of garden and woodland with numerous walks and places to visit in the surrounding area.
We are perfectly positioned between St Andrews (12 miles away), Edinburgh (40 miles away), Perth (20 miles away) and Dundee (14 miles away which allows visitors to make the most of multiple Scottish cities and towns in one visit.
Despite its close proximity to these fabulous hubs, Melville Escapes enjoys a degree of seclusion, there are many more fabulous walking tracks in the area as well as artists’ studios, lochs and much much more.
Within the grounds of Melville House we have two Georgian garden pavilions named the Tea Houses available for rentals of two days or more and accommodating up to 5 people.
We also offer a Mongolian Yurt, located in the woods at the far side of the house which sleeps 4 and offers an element of seclusion and adventure.
The final property we have available is the West Wing of the main house. This sleeps up to 8 people and offers wonderful spacious communal areas with a vaulted kitchen and upstairs living room. The perfect amount of space for a large family to enjoy some time away together.
